One of our favorite excursions is the one provided by Joy’s Adventures St. Lucia. The boat will meet you at the pier where your cruise ship is docked. This is a long excursion, a full day and is worth every minute. You won’t want it to end. You’ll see some of the sights by boat, then you’ll get to explore some on foot, eat a wonderful authentic lunch at Joy’s personal home, then off to Sugar Beach for an afternoon of snorkeling. You might even see a cliff diver. Joy’s Adventures offers fun throughout the excursion for a truly memorable St. Lucia excursion.
Joy’s Adventures St. Lucia – The entire day is jam packed with fun!
Marigot Bay is surrounded on three sides by forested hills. Marigot Bay is a historic St. Lucia landmark, having been the site of a number of battles between the French & English navies. The bay has also served as a backdrop for a number of films. You’ll be steered underneath of the arch you see in our photos. It’s breathtaking. This is the arch used in the film Pirates of the Caribbean. Joy’s Adventures takes you right under the arch for a photo or video opportunity you do not want to miss!
Soufriere boasts a drive up volcano, after you’ve gotten over the sulfur smell and landscape, trying a mud bath is a must. If you have a least favorite swimsuit, wear it. Not all the mud will come off in the waterfall, so keep your best suit clean for other port and sea days. The rich volcanic mud is virtually a natural spa, it will relax the tense muscles and smooth and soften damaged skin.
It’s okay to work up an appetite…
You’ll enjoy a wonderful lunch at Joy’s house as a part of your excursion with Joy’s Adventures. While you enjoy an authentic St. Lucian buffet, Joy walks around and greets all of his guests. We learned that he began his business grilling food on the beach for guests. Over time, people began to inquire about tours, and his business took off from there. As we listened to the islanders he employs, we learned that Joy is highly respected and his tours are extremely popular. You’ll want to book this early and in advance once you book your cruise.
After lunch it’s time to head to Sugar Beach park. We were pleasantly surprised at the snorkeling, and did see quite a few schools of fish. Sugar Beach park is a small but nice beach and an easy place to spend time before returning to your ship.
